I just don't understand it. How is it that a habit - whatever it is - can be fine for some people to do; and so annoying from others that you want to yank your fingernails out by the root and shove them in your eyes? Take breathing, for example. Now this is an essential function to maintain life. I realize that. I have even been known to do it myself at times. But there is this person I know who does it in such an annoying way!! Another example is laughing. Now, what's wrong with laughing you say? Nothing. Usually. But there is this person I know who does it inappropriately. How can a laugh be inappropriate? Trust me, it can be. Like at the end of EVERY SENTENCE!
A pet peeve, by definition, is a minor annoyance that can instill extreme frustration in an individual (no shit). Typically each person has several pet peeves that aggravate him or her more than the average person. Another person may not react as negatively or at all to the same circumstance.
The term originated from the word 'peeve.' A 'peeve,' meaning something that is particularly irritating or annoying, is a relatively recent word. Its first printed usage was in 1911. The term is a back formation from a 14th-century word: 'peevish,' meaning ornery or ill-tempered.
The phrase 'pet peeve,' a uniquely personal irritant, first appeared in print in 1919, so obviously people have been laughing and breathing since way back then. Oh, and clearing their throats.
You see, my problem is that some people can breathe and laugh and it won't bother me at all; but there are some others (one) who do this and it drives me batty! Why is this?
I have to go or I'll sit here all day and rant.
chat soon.

It's not much, really. Just the strange ramblings of my mind. Feel free to read. Feel free to comment. I don't mind. Makes me feel important.....

Maggie's Take on Spring
I love my daughter Maggie. She's my last baby, a former occupant of my uterus. Who knew she'd be nuts? Not me.
She is desperate for Spring. There was a little bit of not-so-cold weather a few weeks ago and she was all up in it, riding her bike and dressing the part! Then, the next day she comes downstairs for school wearing FLIP-FLOPS!! Can you believe it? Did I mention that it was raining out?
Ok, so here we are discussing her 'little problem' with her attire, and she informs me that if she continues to dress for Spring, then it might come sooner! Go Maggie!!
Who knows? Since she's been 'dressing the part' the weather HAS been nicer.....
chat soon.
